Words by GOLD newsdesk

Beth Seidenberg, MD, Founding Managing Director, Westlake Village Biopartners has been named as the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association’s (HBA) 2022 Woman of the Year.

The award seeks to recognise female leaders who have made a significant contribution to the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, particularly for work pertaining to equality and inclusivity for women.

The HBA highlighted Seidenberg's key role in championing research and development into innovative life-saving products for diseases such as AIDS, arthritis, asthma, cancer and others, as well as her two-decade-long focus on driving innovative healthcare solutions by investing in and incubating over 35 ‘top tier’ biotech ventures, most recently founding Westlake Village Biopartners in 2018.

“Seidenberg’s record of success in all aspects of venture capital demonstrate her unique skills and prowess in a traditionally male-dominated profession, positioning her as an inspiration and role model for women,” the HBA said.

Seidenberg is set to be honoured alongside Christopher Boerner, PhD, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercialization Officer, Bristol Myers Squibb, who receives the HBA’s Honourable Mentor award, and Wendy White, Board Director, CEEK Women’s Health, who is named the HBA’s Strategic Transformation Achievement Recognition (STAR) volunteer.

All three winners will be celebrated at the HBA’s annual Woman of the Year celebration taking place in New York City – and virtually – on 10 May 2022.
